Which of these 7 mistakes are you making in your business?

Let’s face it. Selling yourself is tough, especially if you are a spiritual entrepreneur and are working from your heart and spirit.

In fact selling yourself has never been harder. In this time of the 2012 shift and the changes that are happening as people evolve, the way we communicate our message has to evolve also.

If you are a spiritual entrepreneur, or run a heart-based business, take a look at the seven mistakes below and see which of them might be getting in the way when you try to sell yourself.

Do you believe?…

1. It’s simply a numbers game

If you make enough calls and more appointments you will eventually get a yes. Have you ever tried this? It’s like finding a needle in a haystack. What if you had a magnet though, that could simply draw out the needle leaving the hay for someone else to sift through?

2. Chatting to people is enough

Most spiritual people believe the myth that it’s enough to be able to chat to people and have them like you. Yes, they need to like you, but they also need to trust you, feel safe that you can solve their problem and understand on a soul level that you are right for them. Liking is only the first step to this.

3. Offering discounts will bring in more clients

This will actually only result in you working more hours. The numbers just don’t add up. Studies show that a discount of only 20% can result in needing to work 50% extra hours (based on supply and demand curves).

4. Selling is bad – it’s about persuading someone to buy something they don’t want

This myth has never been true. Selling is about helping people to decide. Whether that decision is a yes or no is irrelevant. But getting them to a decision is essential.

Selling is actually GOOD. When the product and person are a good match. It does everyone good. The seller and the buyer. This is a true win-win situation. Think about a time when you had a problem and bought a product or service that solved it. How good did that make you feel? That’s how good you could be making your clients feel. And if you think about it in any other way you really owe it to yourself and your clients to get over it.

5. Cold calling is the answer

This might have been true once but it really is the HARD way to get new business. In these times of open communication channels, and much more readily available information via the internet, it’s really not the most effective way to run your business.

6. Offering freebies or taster sessions will have them buy

This is the most common mistake made by heart-centered business owners. But I’ll bet if you’ve ever tried this you will have had a LOT of time wasters. What happened when you suggested they pay next time? Did they run away, cry poor, say they will think about it or even take offence at the suggestion?

It’s much more effective to set up a conversation that leads to a decision (yes or no), rather than offer freebies.

7. If I meditate and visualise more I’ll get more clients

Of course meditation and visualisation are essential, but they are NOT the only things you need to do! You also need to raise your inner threshold, clear your energy and learn sales tactics that work in today’s economy and in the time of the 2012 shift.

Isn’t it time for you to ground your spiritual vision, get your message out and become part of the 2012 shift rather than a bystander?

Here’s how you can… www.IntegrityFormula.com

To your success,

Stop Blaming Yourself for Self Sabotage

sabotage

Have you ever made a resolution to do something or stop doing something only to find yourself doing the exact opposite? And when that happens it’s as if you didn’t do it at all, as if someone else stepped in and took control and you found yourself behaving in a completely different way, and you felt powerless to stop it. As if you had stepped aside and were watching whilst someone else sabotaged your success.

You’re completely aware of doing it, don’t want to behave that way, yet you seemed powerless to stop it.

It can also be experienced as indecision; part of you wants to do one thing, whilst part of you wants another. Or maybe you have a part of you that wants to have faith, but part of you that has doubts.

If you’ve ever felt this, don’t worry, you are not possessed, you may simply have a “parts conflict”. This is where a part of neurology has separated off from the rest of you to create a “part”. It’s still you, or a part of you. It still has a positive intention but uses destructive behaviour in a misguided attempt to achieve its goal.

Usually parts are formed during significant emotional events or traumatic times. During these events a bit of us gets fragmented off, usually as a protection mechanism.

Does part of you want to grow, whilst part of you wants to stay safe?

The most common forms of parts conflicts are when one part of you wants to stride ahead and grow whilst another part wants to keep you safe. The conflict comes in because growing has some risk and the part of you that wants to keep you safe will stop you moving forward with fears and doubts.

Why Georgina fell off her chair

For much of her life Georgina had wanted to grow and move forward but part of her kept sabotaging her success. It did this by procrastinating, or simply NOT doing the very things that she knew would lead to her success. As a result she frequently failed to meet deadlines which then led to…  well… failure (her words).

A few weeks ago, on our Spiritual Practitioner workshop, I taught a powerful technique to integrate the conflicting parts. The result was that ALL parts of the individual start co-operating and working together. During this process a large amount of energy is released. The part stores energy and when it’s integrated this energy is released and becomes available as the person becomes whole.

For most people this is a pretty extraordinary feeling. Waves or heat, tingling and pressure move up and down, and across and around the body. For Georgina the experience was particularly profound, so much so that she literally “fell off her chair”. She described it as feeling like she was pushed off her chair.

In only a few moments she was up and smiling and with a flushed and excited face saying how amazing and extraordinary the experience was. She now feels completely different.

How do I know if I have a part?

  • You totally believe in yourself, or spirit, but then doubts creep in.
  • You set a goal, are totally going for it, but then stop for no reason or otherwise start to sabotage your success. You believe you deserve good things, but also feel unworthy.
  • Do you sometimes look in the mirror and not recognise yourself?
  • You find yourself behaving in ways that you don’t like, don’t want to do, but feel powerless to stop.

Is it a part or full time problem?

It may, of course, NOT be a part it may be a full time problem. Full time problems are usually limiting beliefs and these can be differentiated from parts because they operate all the time. So you are fully congruent about your limitations or limiting beliefs. If this is the case it’s probably a full time problem and not a part.

Now you can stop blaming yourself for self sabotage

So the very next time you find yourself doing something you didn’t want to do you can stop beating yourself up about it. It’s not YOU, but only a PART of you.

Intuition in Business

intuitioninbusinessDespite the apparent lack of any scientific evidence of its accuracy, most successful entrepreneurs place a high value on intuition for making decisions. They pride themselves on following their gut, or having hunches that turn out to be right.

Frequently entrepreneurs claim to have rejected what ‘made sense’ and followed their intuition instead. Whenever they fail to listen to that little voice of warning that a deal will go sour, or disregard that feeling that something doesn’t quite add up it ends in tears.

Successful entrepreneurs can sniff out a great product line, attract the best suppliers and follow the best leads. There is no logic to their good decisions which is why others who try to copy or mimic their actions fail.

It would seem that a finely honed intuition is what makes the difference between a good business person and a great entrepreneur

New age visualisation and meditation is often viewed as fluffy psychobabble in the rational world of business, yet without intuition the world becomes a barren place of cold logic.

There are few great scientific advances made without intuition. Einstein created his theories of relativity after a visualising sitting on the front of a beam of light and imagining what happens as he travelled along it.

The discoverer of the chemical makeup of Benzene only managed to unravel the problem of ‘too few hydrogen atoms’ after dreaming of a snake wound in a circle eating its own tail. This image led him to the realisation that the only way the benzene molecule could be made stable is if the carbon atoms were arranged in a circle just like the snake.

With little scientific support for intuition it has been hard for entrepreneurs to understand, trust or quantify its impact. Until now that is…

Research conducted by Professor Gerard Hodgkinson of the Centre for Organizational Strategy, Learning and Change at Leeds University Business School suggested that intuition is a real phenomenon that is caused by the way our brains store, retrieve and process information (source Science Daily Mar. 6, 2008).

This and other research suggest that our brains make almost instantaneous decisions based on a combination of generalisations made from previous experiences, matching this with current external stimuli to make a decision. When this happens it seems to bypass our conscious (rational, logical) mind so that we are left with a general or vague feeling that something is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’.

Professor Hodgkinson reported an incident where a racing driver had inexplicably stopping mid race when the visible road ahead was clear. The driver simply felt he had to stop.

During forensic analysis by psychologists the diver was shown a video and mentally relived the event. As he watched the video he realised that the crowd were looking the wrong way. Instead of looking at him and cheering as he approached a bend they were looking silently at something around the bend. This was the cue that triggered him to brake. He did not process this consciously but simply stopped seemingly without thinking.

Psychoanalysis, NLP and hypnosis have, for many years, held that the mind has two aspects that work in completely different ways

These two aspects are the unconscious (sometimes called the subconscious) mind and the conscious mind.

The conscious mind uses logic and rational thought. But (according to research) this is limited to only 5 – 9 ideas or pieces of information at a time.

The bulk of all our thinking is outside of our conscious awareness. It happens unconsciously and research suggests that the unconscious mind processes over 2 million bits of information at a time. The rest is filtered out of our conscious awareness. If you were aware of everything you would be utterly overwhelmed

This explains why learning to drive is overwhelming but once you can do it without thinking (consciously) and have got it ‘in the muscle’ you can arrive safely at your destination and have no memory of the journey.

Due to its much greater processing power the unconscious mind is better suited to making decisions with large amounts of data

When we access this it’s known as intuition.

Intuitive hunches happen when your unconscious mind makes instant evaluations based on previous patterns which it can do much more quickly than the conscious mind can. It should be noted though, that like any computer the accuracy of intuitive hunches is based on past experiences, and some experiences can lead to errors or jumping to the wrong conclusions. This happens when your mind wrongly assumes that one bad experience means the same bad thing will happen every time.

There is nothing spooky or magic about it. It is simply the way the mind was designed to work. With training it is possible to ensure your mind’s programming is working perfectly and increase intuition to the level where others will think you are psychic!
