Psycademy Testimonials...

Having a Breakthrough with Lisa so significantly changed my life that I can almost not recognise myself, everyone tells me how different I am, and I feel inwardly confident, calm, positive and totally motivated to know that whatever I decide to do I will achieve it.

Are we nearly there yet?

Listen to this post here:

MP3 File

Anyone who has kids, knows any kids or has ever been a kid (OK that’s everyone) will have heard the cry from the backseat of the car “are we nearly there yet?”

It seems to be hardwired into us to want to get “there”, wherever “there” is for you. No-one seems to enjoy the journey. Yet isn’t that what life is all about?

Why did you choose to be born or incarnate? Was it so that you could charge headlong towards your death? No.

Most philosophies are based around the principle of evolution, and believe that we incarnate so that we can evolve. So does that mean we should be charging headlong towards some evolutionary goal that might be called “Enlightenment”. NO not that either.

The purpose of life is to be evolving, not be evolved. There is no “there”. The journey is all there is.

Outrageous goals

Last week I set myself an outrageous goal of getting 100 sign ups to my SSCP preview teleseminar. I didn’t quite make it. I got 76 at final count, with 45 dialling in to listen live.

So did I achieve my goal? Not quite. I was 24 short.

Now there are two reactions I could have.

1. I could go into despair and say – how terrible, I set a goal and didn’t get it. I could easily choose to feel really bad about not reaching my target. Or….

2. I could choose to feel really happy that I had increased my personal best for a teleseminar by 3.5 times. I could choose to believe that this is enough and a fantastic step forward in my business and life.

The reason I’m thinking about the whole idea of getting “there” is that on Saturday Psycademy is 5 years old. On any anniversary I tend to think back to what I’ve achieved over the last year, and what I’ve achieved in the last 5 years.

It has been an amazing journey. Not always easy, not always fun. I had to remortgage my house 3 times to set it up. I had some Christian fundamentalists threaten to take out an injunction to keep me out of their venue. Apparently I AM the devil for suggesting that there are other ways to God, and when I went in to enquire if I could rent their hall out for a training, in a very loving Christian way they had their security guards frog march me out of the building. And I still get people telling my courses “are all b*****s”, or giving me a hard time when they don’t agree with my newsletter content. I tell them where the unsubscribe link is.

BUT – despite all the trials, tests, tribulations and troubles – I am still here and yes. I have made it. Where have I made it to? Well… HERE of course.

Here I am, gathering more clients, more students, my database constantly growing. I get wonderful feedback from my students, clients and colleagues. I’ve been featured in the press from Psychologies to the Sun, Marie Claire to Business press. I’ve even been on the TV (only sky) and the radio.

Have I gotten to where I want to be? No, not yet, but that’s because all goals are like the horizon. They are always moving further away. We need to set higher and higher targets AND we need to celebrate our achievements.

Happy people focus on both what they want to achieve AND celebrate what they already HAVE achieved.

So I am celebrating my small achievement, of bringing Psycademy into existence and persevering with it through the challenges to get to where I am.

If you are reading this and like my newsletters, or anything about Psycademy – I’m going to ask a small favour – just send a little message back saying “HURRAH!” and if you want and have time I invite you to share with me some of your own successes from the past 5 years. Just post here on this blog.

And on that note HURRAH!!

 This issues top tip:

  • 1. Set an outrageous goal for the future and enjoy the journey and all the steps you take towards achieving that goal.
  • 2. Think back to where you were at some point in the past and notice how far you have come. Celebrate that achievement.

Being a pioneer – does it have to be so hard?

Well, Yes! In a way it does.

As the title “pioneer” suggests you are the pioneer of change, which means you are challenging the status quo. You have seen a new vision for how the world could be, or how you would like to live your life. You have brought in, via the genius of your own inspiration, a new idea, or a new concept, one that you want to ground and bring into being. You are taking a raw idea and bringing it into a physical form. To do this, things need to change.

The fact that it is new means that others will not find it easy to accept at first. Not all great ideas are accepted straight away. In a funny kind of way, if you get resistance you should take it as a sign that you are on to the right path.

At Psycademy, we are known for turning thinking on its head. We look at what most people do – and do the exact opposite. And that means that many people don’t agree with us. They think we are “wrong” or strange or even mad.

But actually that is a good thing. I know that challenging people’s way of thinking is part of my life’s purpose. It is by taking on new ways of thinking, and doing, that we can become what we are meant to become.

In every area of life there are the accepted norms. Even personal development has its own accepted and standard beliefs, which if you dare to deviate from will bring down the wrath of others. I should know from the e-mails I get!

In the promo e-mails for my last teleseminar I challenged some conventions. I suggested that protection was the last thing we should be doing, and my goodness it caused a stir. You would think I was promoting a satanic mass from the way people objected.

Indeed many of my e-mails gently (or not so gently) push the boundaries of accepted thinking. And many people feel obliged to e-mail me in to “set me straight” and tell me I am wrong.
But this is PERFECT. When people e-mail me to tell me how wrong I am, I know that I am on the right path. What I say may or may not be true, but the very fact that it challenges people’s thinking lets me know that I’m on track. That and the wonderful e-mails from people telling me how they love that my newsletters “make them think”.

Here is what one person said about a recent message:

“I want to acknowledge you for the work you do and what you bring to the world. This is a very pertinent and brilliant piece of marketing and what I really love the most is that you work on the edge, stretching people beyond what they ever thought or believed was possible and that really is to be commended. Go get em girl! You are a complete inspiration!!. Happy new year to you with lots of love Mary.”

Many of my readers, and clients are pioneers in their own field. And as a pioneer of change you will be challenged. So when things get hard, that’s perfect. It means you are challenging the old way of thinking.

Think about it… if the change you are pioneering was easy, it would have already happened.

For some reason YOU have been chosen or volunteered to lead this change. For some reason YOU have been inspired to ground break new ground. Never doubt that it will be hard at times. But NEVER doubt the importance of your role in the birth of a new order.

As a pioneer you are a leader. You are the keeper of the vision, the holder of the vision. So no matter what others say, stay true to your vision.

At this time, more than ever before, the old, accepted norms will no longer serve us. The old ways must be challenged. Einstein said:

“You can’t solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it.” And…

“If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.”

The current world situation was caused by old ways of thinking, they were not wrong but they don’t serve us now. So think something new. Just for the hell of it. Challenge what you believe you know. Question what you thought was true. If it is true it will hold and be even stronger for you. But if it’s not then isn’t it better to let that thinking go?

“Why sometimes I think 6 impossible things before breakfast!”
The White Queen, Alice in Wonderland: Lewis Carol

There are enough robots in the world, blindly doing and thinking what they have been told to do and think. It takes strength of mind and courage to think something new. It takes an open mind to be receptive to new ideas and ideals. So open your mind, and keep it open. You don’t have to agree with everything new, but the very act of considering it stretches your mind.

Keep stretching your own mind. Keep stretching other people’s minds.

My invitation to you is to be the pioneer that will lead the world to change at this time. It is part of my purpose to shake up old ways of thinking. To turn your thinking on its head. It’s also part of my purpose to support others to do the same. If you would like to know how you can pioneer your vision, contact me.

Ok – so who’s up for a satanic mass?
